Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Float Position in an acute care facility. This role involves providing general medical-surgical nursing care across multiple units within a large hospital setting. The position requires flexibility to float between departments as needed, supporting patient care across a diverse population with varying diagnoses and treatment needs.
Job Details:
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Start Date: 09/07/2026
- End Date: 02/08/2027
- Required Qualifications:
- At least 1.5 years of experience in Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care environments
- Minimum of 1 year of experience at a facility with 450+ beds
- IN license (or compact license as of 7/1/20) required
- BLS certification through AHA required
- Candidate must have at least 0 years of experience (additional experience preferred but not mandatory)
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in multiple medical-surgical units
- Skills in assessments, care planning, inter-professional communication, utilization of Electronic Health Records (EHR), IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding tubes, chest tubes, management of heparin and insulin drips, and IV therapy management
- Familiarity with Epic electronic record system, Pyxis medication machines, Accucheck blood glucose monitoring, Hospira IV pumps, SCDs for VTE prevention, telemetry monitoring
- Ability to float to other medical units
- Additional Information:
- Must be willing to go through supplemental Jump Start orientation, including 1 day of general hospital orientation and approximately 5 days of nursing orientation plus Epic classes
- May be called off up to 24 hours per 13-week assignment as per policy
- Will require staff to support the unit during weekends; scheduled as 3 weekends in 4 weeks
- Dress code: Caribbean Blue scrubs
- Charting system: EPIC
