Position Overview

The Emergency Department RN will provide direct, high-quality nursing care to patients presenting with acute and emergent conditions. The nurse will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications and treatments, continuously evaluate patient conditions, and collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care to Emergency Department patients.
• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments.
• Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate individualized care plans.
• Perform ED-specific nursing procedures and interventions.
• Administer medications and treatments and evaluate patient responses.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and initiate appropriate interventions.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
• Promote patient and staff safety and follow established safety standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, ancillary staff, patients, and families.
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to support patient care.
• Provide patient and family education.
• Participate in problem-solving, conflict management, and peer collaboration.
• Maintain departmental competencies and follow hospital policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of relevant nursing experience
• Emergency Department nursing experience required
• ASN/ADN required
• BSN preferred
• Active Illinois RN license in good standing
• BLS – AHA
• ACLS – AHA
• PALS – AHA
• EPIC experience required

Preferred Qualifications

• Trauma Level II or higher experience preferred
• TNCC highly preferred
• Strong emergency/acute-care assessment and prioritization skills
• Experience caring for high-acuity and rapidly changing patient conditions

Schedule Requirements

• 3 × 12-hour shifts
• Nights: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
• 36 hours/week
• 2 call shifts per 6-week schedule period
• Call shifts are 13 hours
• Traveler must be able to report onsite within 1 hour when called in
• NO BLOCK SCHEDULING
