Job Description
The Observation Unit provides care for adult patients who require short-term monitoring to determine whether they need hospital admission or can be safely discharged.
This is a fast-paced unit with:
- 20–27 patient admissions/discharges per day
- Average patient stay of 27 hours
- 24/7 provider coverage
- Care for adult emergency observation patients and admitted boarding patients
- Patient population ranging from short-stay observation to full inpatient admissions
Minimum Requirements
- Active New York State RN License
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) nursing experience
- Telemetry experience required
Required Certifications
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
