Opportunity:

Job Details:

• Night shift hours from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Schedule is set 4 weeks at a time with 2 weeks advance notice provided
• No on-call responsibilities
• Must be available to work 2 holidays
• Minimum of 2 years of strong emergency department experience required
• First-time travelers accepted with EPIC experience
• Average emergency department patient volume of 90 patients per day, ranging up to 90-110 during busy periods
• Patient population includes 50% adult, 25% geriatric, 15% pediatric, and 10% behavioral health
• Patient types include trauma (elderly falls, MVAs, industrial accidents, GSW, stabbings), cardiac (STEMI, CHF), neurological (strokes), respiratory (RSV, COPD), mental illness, and general medical
• Routine patient ratio of 1:3, flexing to 1:4 or 1:5 during high census; 1:2 for nurses with critical care experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH, PALS
• Preferred certifications: ENCP, TNCC, and de-escalation training (MOAB or CPI)
• Required skills include basic ED skills, stroke and trauma care, splinting, pediatric experience, chest tubes, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and central line management
• Must be proficient with EPIC (required), Alaris, and Pyxis
• Telemonitoring available at bedside and nursing station
• Floating is rare and will only require assisting other units with hard IV sticks or helping hands; will never be required to take a patient assignment outside of the ED
• Scrub color: any color, professional
• Free parking available in designated employee area

Facility:

This facility is a 101-bed acute care hospital operating as a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. The emergency department features 24 beds, 5 intermediate overflow beds, and 20+ hallway beds to accommodate high patient volumes. The unit is supported around the clock by charge nurses, intake counselors, public safety personnel, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, house supervisors, a surge call team, and a trained forensic team. Additional support includes ED technicians across multiple shifts, a triage nurse, phlebotomy for hard sticks, and ED case management and physical therapy services Monday through Friday.
