Job Summary:
Emergency Room Registered Nurse is sought for a healthcare organization in Asheville, North Carolina. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, trauma and stroke center with a diverse and multicultural community. The nurse will actively participate in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating advanced clinical skills and compassionate patient engagement.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: 2 years of experience as a registered nurse with at least 1 year in an emergency department setting; certifications including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) within 90 days of hire are required; education and licensing requirements meet state and organizational standards; location in North Carolina.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in Level 2 trauma centers, comprehensive stroke centers, or high-volume emergency departments with over 100,000 visits annually; previous healthcare experience preferred.
  • Additional Information: The unit has 101 beds, with patient ratios typically at 4:1, up to 7:1 during behavioral holds. Staff work in cardiac monitoring, triage, and internal processing areas, utilizing GE monitors and Baxter pumps. The department emphasizes respectful behavior, patient experience, and adherence to unit-specific policies. Dress code is navy scrubs. The team is known for excellent teamwork, welcoming personalities, and serving a multicultural community speaking over 120 languages. Staff are expected to be flexible to work in all sections of the Emergency Department, with scheduling requiring every other weekend. No floating outside of the ED is permitted.
