Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, NICU – Eureka, CA 95501
Start Date: September 8, 2026
Location: Eureka, California
Schedule: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:00 - 06:00). Patient ratio of 2:1 across all shifts. Weekend coverage required per department needs and union contract. May be required to float to postpartum unit.
Highlights:
- 13-week travel assignment in a Level II NICU caring for neonates 32 weeks gestation and above
- Daily census of approximately 4 patients in a 5-bed unit
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
- Opportunity to work with specialized equipment including CPAP, high flow, and UAC/UVC lines
- One pre-approved time off period available; must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays
- 24-hour orientation with Epic charting system experience preferred
Requirements:
- Active Compact RN license (must be in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Current BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
- Experience with neonates 29-34 weeks and >34 weeks, Level II NICU care
- Proficiency in ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), UAC/UVC lines, and breastfeeding support
- Ability to attend high-risk deliveries and stabilize infants for transfer to higher levels of care
- Previous charge experience and Epic charting experience preferred
- Two professional references covering 1 year within the last 3 years
- Clean background check required; no exceptions for background findings
