Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse position available in an acute care setting located in a healthcare facility. This role involves providing specialized care for neonates, including newborns from early gestation to full-term infants, with responsibilities spanning delivery room support and unit-based patient care. The position offers an opportunity to work within a Level II NICU with a focus on critical neonatal care and collaboration with neonatology and pediatric teams.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, beginning on 09/14/2026 and ending on 12/14/2026, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as a registered nurse, BLS (Basic Life Support), and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications. A minimum of 2 years of neonatal intensive care experience, with a preference for charge nurse experience in a Level II NICU. Experience in managing ventilators, bubble CPAP, new newborn admissions, and titratable drips including fluids, TPN, and blood products. Must be comfortable assisting at delivery, including newborn resuscitation, and capable of running specialized neonatal equipment.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior charge nurse experience in a neonatal intensive care environment. Ability to float to postpartum units if necessary.
- Float: May be required to float to postpartum if NICU is temporarily closed.
- Additional Information: Unit operates with up to 11 beds, including 9 patient rooms, with nurse-to-patient ratios varying based on acuity, up to 1:2/3. Neonatologist is available 24/7 in-house, with NNP coverage also in-house around the clock. No nurse aides on this unit. Telehealth neonatology services are available for 30-32-week infants, and partnership with pediatricians is maintained for higher gestational ages. Respiratory therapy equipment includes vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and related devices. Only two RNs are scheduled per shift; staffing may include on-call responsibilities if patient volumes are low. Unit orientation includes specific competency assessments, and a navy scrubs dress code is required.
