Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position available in the area. This role involves providing specialized care to neonatal patients in a Level 3 NICU setting, handling complex diagnoses such as congenital defects, pre-cardiac repair, and pulmonary hypertension of the newborn. The position offers a 12-hour night shift schedule with a focus on high-acuity neonatal patient care.
Job Details:
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois (IL) licensed RN, BLS (American Heart Association), and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications. Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, preferred NICU or Level 3/4 ICU experience, and micro preemie care skills preferred.
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with self-scheduling and block scheduling options. Regular weekend coverage every other weekend, with Friday and Saturday nights as night weekends. Holiday coverage required as needed.
- Duties: Managing neonatal patients with diagnoses including abdominal defects, PPHN, CDH, and genetic defects. Titration of drips such as Fentanyl, Morphine, Precedex per physician orders. Perform troubleshooting related to ventilators and monitoring equipment, including conventional ventilators, oscillators, JET ventilators, CPAP, Nasal IMV, Heated High Flow, and tracheostomy care.
- Unit Details: 60 private NICU beds, capable of expanding to 65, with 5 twin rooms and 20 intermediate beds. Neonatologist and advanced practice nurse coverage 24/7, with resident/fellow staff. No specific scrub color required; scrubs provided. Complete unit-specific orientation (1-2 days) provided.
- Additional Information: Floating to other pediatric units such as PICU, Peds, nursery, and adult units may be required based on staffing needs. No call or standby requirements currently.
