- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: As scheduled
- Floating: Within specialty and to lower-acuity areas as needed
Job Requirements
- Active Maryland RN license or compact RN license at time of submission
- Minimum of 2 years of Neuro ICU, ICU, or similar critical care nursing experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- CPI certification required or willingness to obtain per compliance guidelines
- NIHSS certification preferred for neurological nursing and stroke care
- Epic experience preferred
- Strong skills in neurological assessment, patient monitoring, and critical care management
- First-time travelers may be considered with strong Neuro ICU experience
- Ability to float within scope and adapt to changing patient needs in a fast-paced hospital setting
Responsibilities
- Provide expert nursing care for critically ill neuro patients with conditions such as stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, TBI, seizures, and post-craniotomy needs
- Monitor and manage patients requiring ICP monitoring, EVD care, cEEG, ventilator support, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
- Perform frequent neurological assessments and promptly recognize changes in patient condition
- Administer and titrate vasoactive drips, sedation, and other ICU therapies according to protocol
- Support airway, ventilation, and respiratory care, including suctioning, ventilator management, and tracheostomy care
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams to deliver coordinated patient care
- Maintain safe, accurate documentation and contribute to a high standard of patient-centered critical care
