Medical Surgical Floor Nurse Night Shift Located in a healthcare facility providing acute care. This position involves providing comprehensive patient care on a general medical unit with a focus on teamwork and communication. The role requires adherence to hospital policies and clinical standards, including patient safety and documentation protocols.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid active Illinois license; BLS (AHA) certification; minimum of 1 year of experience in medical surgical nursing; strong teamwork and communication skills; experience on a general medical unit.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with telemetry is a plus; familiarity with electronic medical record systems such as EPIC.
- Additional Information:
- Local rate applicable to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles.
- Orientation includes 12 non-billable hours; coverage of orientation is guaranteed.
- Nurse to patient ratios: approximately 1:4/5 on night shifts; PCTs (Patient Care Technicians) are present 24/7 with ratios of 1:10 on nights.
- Telemetry patients are monitored via Phillips monitors, with bedside RNs not reading strips, as a central station manages monitor techs.
- Every other weekend and 3 of 6 holidays are required.
- Call or standby duties depend on hospital staffing needs.
- Floating is based on staffing rotation, with travel RNs first to float.
- Scrubs are not specified; no dress code preference.
- Department-specific orientation of 3 days is provided.
