Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Oncology Floor nurse position is based in a facility located in San Francisco, California. This role involves providing specialized care to patients with various oncological diagnoses in an outpatient setting. The assignment begins on September 22, 2026, and requires the ability to float to other facilities within the region as needed. The candidate will deliver patient-centered care in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days, 8 hours per shift, minimum 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: CA Registered Nurse (RN) license, AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, minimum of 3 years of experience, outpatient oncology experience, completed references at time of submission, ability to float within designated facilities
- Preferred Qualifications: ACLS, Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AONC), Chemo certification (ONC/ONCC), PALS, inpatient oncology experience, pediatrics oncology experience, radiation oncology experience
- Certifications: BLS required; additional certifications such as ACLS, Chemo (ONC/ONCC), PALS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), ONS/ONCC, and others are preferred
- Skills: Managing ports, administering chemotherapy, radiation therapy procedures, handling complex patient conditions such as altered mental status, skin changes, tissue management, and safety precautions for radiation treatments
- Travel Experience: Allowed, but generally not on the same unit
- Start Date: 09/22/2026
- Orientation: 4:00 PM PST on the Monday prior to the start date
- Unit Details: Interdisciplinary support services available, patient census approximately 90 with 130 visits per day, 10 rooms, 6 beds, handling a variety of cancer diagnoses including genitourinary, gynecological, head and neck, breast, gastrointestinal, central nervous system, osteosarcomas, and more
- Additional Information: Floating to other UCSF facilities within a 75+ mile radius may be required; prior experience with systems like Epic preferred; BSN required for all RN positions; California RN license in hand at time of submission; references from recent employment needed; no mid-contract RTO requests accepted without prior approval.
