Acute Med/Surg Registered Nurse - Contract Position

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The RN assesses patient needs, develops a collaborative plan of care with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The Med/Surg RN develops specialized skills in cardiac care, including telemetry monitoring, and is accountable for patient and family education to assist with self-care beyond hospitalization.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient and family assessments using active listening and analysis of information.
• Create individualized, culturally relevant plans of care addressing identified health problems.
• Set patient goals in collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care and adjust plans as needed based on patient response.
• Educate patients and families on self-care and lifestyle changes for health support.
• Document education provided and patient/family responses.
• Foster teamwork and cooperation among team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain competencies required for the specific patient population.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NYS RN Licensure Required
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS
• 2 years of med-surg experience as a Registered Nurse is required.
