Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a general Med Surg unit with an emphasis on oncology.
- Read and interpret telemetry strips effectively.
- Coordinate patient care with interdisciplinary teams including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, and Pharmacy.
- Administer medications, including antibiotics, antiemetics, corticosteroids, and narcotic agents.
- Manage and care for ports, colostomy/ileostomy, Foley catheters, and PICC lines.
- Implement isolation precautions and use PPE as necessary.
- Monitor and assess medication tolerance and dependence.
- Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values and manage side effects.
- Perform wound care and start/maintain IVs.
Requirements
- Must hold a permanent MA RN license.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience, including Med Surg/Telemetry experience.
- Oncology experience is preferred.
- BLS certification is required; ACLS certification is preferred.
- Must be able to work every other weekend and holiday.
- Prior experience with Epic charting is highly preferred.
- Flu vaccine is required, with medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed.
