Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) position located in Boise, Idaho. This role involves providing specialized care within the women's services unit, specifically antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum care. The RN will be responsible for independently transitioning mothers and newborns, managing full couplet assignments, and supporting various patient needs in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 4 x 12-hour shifts, from 06:45 to 19:30 and 18:45 to 07:30; minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as an RN, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) fetal monitoring classes (STABLE required for permanent staff).
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN fetal monitoring classes (STABLE).
- Experience or Skills: Minimum of 3 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, antepartum, and postpartum settings; ability to circulate in OR preferred; excellent communication skills, knowledge of chain of command, and resource utilization; proficiency in titrating drips such as Pitocin, insulin, and Mag.
- Patient Population: Patients with gestation over 22 weeks, including high-risk cases such as PPROM, placenta previa, diabetes, twin pregnancies, and high-risk patients.
- Responsibilities: Transitioning moms and babies independently, managing couplet care, performing car seat studies, and troubleshooting neonatal and fetal monitoring equipment.
- Additional Details: No telemonitoring techs on-site; RNs read their own fetal and cardiac strips. In-house OB Laborist and Neonatologist available 24/7, along with designated CRNA. Shifts are assigned via an app, with the ability to float between units and facilities as needed; travel between hospitals is approximately 20 minutes.
- Dress Code: Scrubs provided.
- Orientation: One shift per site, totaling 4-5 shifts covering each location and specialty area.
- Communication: Excellent communication needed; check emails regularly; utilize chain of command and resources effectively.
- Additional Notes: Supportive culture with easy access and parking; Meridian location is centrally situated.
