Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse is needed for a 17-week contract located in an organization serving a multilingual population. The role involves providing comprehensive obstetric care, including cervical exams, antepartum and labor management, epidurals, fetal monitoring, and postpartum care. The position requires strong clinical skills in labor and delivery, with an emphasis on baby catching and newborn assessment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts; 12 hours per shift; minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid certifications including BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program); minimum of 2 years of experience in labor and delivery nursing; proficiency with electronic medical records (Epic strongly preferred); ability to perform cervical exams, antepartum and labor management, amnio infusions, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IVs, Pitocin; circulation of C-sections; baby catching/receiving, APGAR scoring, breastfeeding support; comfortable with postpartum care from transition to discharge for mother and baby; scrub experience considered a bonus; multilingual skills (Russian/Spanish preferred)
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with scrubbing; familiarity with post-partum care practices; strong LD experience; multilingual abilities are an advantage
- Additional Information: This position includes no call responsibilities. The organization serves a diverse patient population, and there is always a scrub tech on-site with occasional use of scrub-trained registered nurses for sick calls. The EMR system utilized is Epic. The unit comprises 20 beds, including 12 labor/delivery beds and 8 postpartum/antenatal beds, with 3 OB/ED rooms and 2 operating rooms. There is a level II NICU with 6 beds. Notes include that a nurse practitioner is on call.
