Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse specializing in High Acuity Obstetric Care is needed in a Level II Trauma Center located in Tacoma, Washington. The position involves providing comprehensive maternity care, managing high-risk obstetric patients, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe deliveries and postpartum recovery. Assignments include supporting the full spectrum of labor, delivery, and postpartum care within a dynamic hospital environment.

Job Details:

  • Location: 315 Martin Luther King Jr W, Tacoma, WA 98405
  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Start Date: 09/21/2026
  • Required Qualifications: Licensure as a Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of clinical experience in Labor and Delivery, including high-acuity obstetric care, fetal monitoring interpretation, circulating in OR, cervical checks, and fetal strip reading. Certifications in BLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (AWHONN) are required. Experience with EPIC EMR, IV pumps, and fetal surveillance technology is essential.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience as a Charge Nurse, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, solid postpartum and neonatal care skills, and ability to manage complicated obstetric cases.
  • Unit Support and Equipment: CNA, scrub techs, receptionists, Phlebotomy, Resource RN, and Support staff available. Equipment includes fetal monitors, epidural pumps, Pyxis medication system, and SCD stockings.
  • Orientation: Hospital and unit orientation with preceptor pairing, including 6 shifts of unit orientation paired with a Charge Nurse, and neonatal orientation.
  • Additional Details: No floating for ANM; floating within Antepartum and Postpartum areas is possible for other staff. No mandatory call requirements; staff may pick up additional shifts as needed. Fair holiday rotation; time off requests require prior approval. Scrubs provided by the facility, with free parking and badge access.
  • Travel Support: Three bedside travelers are needed to cover upcoming maternity leaves in September and October.
