Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in a hospital setting, scheduled for night shifts. The position offers options of 36 or 48 hours per week, with a focus on providing obstetrical care to neonatal and adult patients. The role involves managing high-risk deliveries, assisting with labor and vaginal deliveries, and utilizing external fetal heart monitoring technology. This opportunity is suitable for experienced RNs seeking a dynamic environment with interdisciplinary support.
Job Details:
- Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP (pending certifications are acceptable)
- Education/Experience: 2 years of experience, certification in ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP, required; prior charge nurse experience preferred
- Specialty: Labor and Delivery Department
- Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift
- Schedule: 48 hours minimum per week, with 4-6 weekend shifts required every 6 weeks; night shifts scheduled accordingly
- Experience in antepartum, high-risk obstetric patient management, obstetrical interventions, and fetal monitoring is preferred
- Patient age groups served include neonates and adults; patient census varies with a daily volume of approximately 100-200 deliveries
- Additional responsibilities include managing central lines (CVC / PICC), sterile vaginal exams, triage of obstetrical patients, and responding to emergency situations such as high-risk deliveries and C-sections
- Orientation hours are not specified; on-site modules are included during orientation and must be completed during the assignment
- Floating to similar units within scope may be required; brief orientation provided prior to floating
