Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery (L&D) Registered Nurse position is located in Washington, District of Columbia. This role involves providing specialized patient care in a high-acuity obstetric setting during night shifts. The nurse will support laboring patients, scheduled procedures, and triage issues, ensuring the safety and well-being of women of childbearing age and their fetuses. The position requires expertise in electronic fetal monitoring and collaboration within a dynamic clinical environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia, minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, BLS and ACLS certifications, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, and experience with electronic fetal monitoring (AWHONN intermediate level).
- Preferred Qualifications: Labor experience of at least 2 years, prior experience with electronic fetal monitoring, and knowledge of Cerner and Fetalink documentation systems.
- Additional Information: The patient population includes females of childbearing years, pregnant women at 17 weeks gestation or more, scheduled procedures such as cesarean sections, external cephalic versions, and triage issues. Responsibilities include managing admissions, discharges, transfers, pre-operative care, and deliveries (vaginal and cesarean). Equipment such as fetal monitors and electronic documentation systems are used daily.
