Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery (L&D) specialist position is located in Richmond, Virginia. This role involves providing care within a busy labor and delivery unit that includes antepartum, labor, delivery, postpartum, triage, and surgical procedures like C-sections. The position supports a team of over 70 staff members and requires a focused and adaptable professional to deliver exceptional patient care in a dynamic environment.

  • Required Qualifications:

    • Current (within previous 2 years) Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification
    • L&D experience
    • Valid Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • No minimum years of experience specified but candidates should possess relevant skills and certifications in the listed qualifications
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience at facilities with 3000 or more annual births
    • Additional clinical skills or certifications related to Labor and Delivery preferred
  • Additional Information:

    • The unit primarily performs labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, triage, and C-section procedures.
    • Supports approximately 16 beds with patient-to-staff ratios aligned with the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) guidelines.
    • Equipment used includes Novii monitors, iMobile devices, and specialized delivery tools.
    • The unit maintains a cultural diversity environment and a professional dress code with navy blue scrubs and closed shoes.
    • In-house coverage includes 24-7 hospitalist and midwife teams, anesthesia, and neonatologists.
