Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse in the Nights shift at a healthcare facility. This role involves providing specialized obstetric care during nighttime hours, supporting high-risk pregnancies, and assisting with deliveries. The position offers options for 36 or 48-hour workweeks, welcoming first-time travelers and those with previous experience in labor and delivery settings.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid certifications including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Intermediate and Basic Life Support (BLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP; pending certifications acceptable). Candidates should have 3 years of experience in labor and delivery or related obstetric departments.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with antepartum care, high-risk deliveries, labor & delivery procedures, and proficiency in use of electronic fetal monitoring and sterile vaginal exams.
- Patient Ratios: 2 patients during days and nights, with 2 patients during weekends.
- Additional Responsibilities: Assist with high-risk deliveries, manage anticoagulation therapy, operate fetal monitoring equipment, oversee labor progress, assist with cesarean sections, and provide postpartum care for neonates and adults.
- Unit Information: Facilities include interdisciplinary support such as respiratory services, interpretation, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and a unit secretary. The unit typically serves 100-200 births per month across 15 beds and rooms.
- Additional Notes: Orientation hours are not specified. Travelers are expected to float within their scope as needed, with brief unit orientations provided. Labs should be completed within 48 business hours of contract signing.
- Travel Requirements: Pending license acceptance (must be obtained prior to start), with a 50-mile local radius locals are not accepted. Previous staff must wait one year before returning as travelers.
