Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) located in Madison, WI. This role involves providing high-quality, specialized nursing care to critically ill adult patients in a fast-paced, Level I Trauma Center environment. The traveler will work in both IMC Acute Medical/Progressive Care and Thoracic units, with a focus on telemetry, vent, and transplant experience.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Evening/Night shift, 12 hours shifts, 36 hours per week, from 07:00 PM to 07:30 AM, Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required.
- Required Qualifications: Valid Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact RN license, ACLS, BLS certifications, minimum 2 years of recent inpatient acute care experience within the last 3 years in telemetry, vent, and transplant settings, specific experience in an academic Level I or II trauma center, and current proficiency in vent and transplant procedures.
- Preferred Qualifications: MS or Telemetry experience.
- Additional Information: The facility is a Magnet-designated hospital, ranked Wisconsins #1 hospital, and recognized as a leading medical and academic center. The role requires passing a telemetry test prior to start with strict passing criteria. Travelers must be willing to float as needed. Minimum experience includes two years of recent acute care nursing in the relevant specialty.
- Submittal Requirements: All candidates must pass a pass/fail telemetry exam with the following criteria: adult test with 100% identification of lethal rhythms and no incorrect answers regarding third-degree heart blocks; pediatric test including ventricular fibrillation, tachycardia, asystole, sinus bradycardia with an 80% passing score; two attempts allowed, with certification submission if failed twice.
- Location: University Hospital, 600 Highland Ave, Madison, WI 53792. Parking permits through UW Transportation are required if onsite parking is used.
