Job Summary:
ICU Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intensive Care Unit care at a healthcare organization. This position is located in Springfield, MA, within a 32-bed Medical ICU that also provides Neuro Critical Care. The role involves floating to Medical Critical Care, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, and Intermediate Care Units as needed. The assignment offers the opportunity to work in a high-acuity environment with a focus on sepsis, end-stage renal disease requiring continuous renal replacement therapy, post-cardiac arrest care, and respiratory failure management.

Job Details:

  • Shift Time: Days
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Certifications required: National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), all through the American Heart Association
  • Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, 2 years of experience in an ICU setting, at least 1 year of experience in a Level 1 ICU preferred, background in Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) settings preferred, and certifications listed above
  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in MICU or Neuro Critical Care units and strong ICU background
  • Additional Information: The unit has a 32-bed capacity with expected patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1 depending on patient acuity. Cases include sepsis, ESRD requiring CRRT/CVVH, post-cardiac arrest care, and respiratory failure. The unit is split across two floors with generally good staffing levels. Ideal candidates will have a solid ICU background with strong clinical skills; candidates with only one year of experience or recent graduates may be considered less suitable for this high-acuity environment.
