Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing position in Kansas City, MO. The role involves providing specialized care to cardiac telemetry patients on a fast-paced unit, including post-cardiac procedural care such as ablations, cardiac catheterizations, and post-operative open heart care. The candidate will interpret EKGs and telemetry strips, administer IV medications, and adhere to patient experience goals by delivering compassionate, respectful, and responsive care.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Day shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Minimum of 0 years' experience in cardiac telemetry or Post-Critical Unit (PCU)/Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with experience in post-cardiac procedural care, and the ability to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with post-cardiac procedures such as ablations, cardiac catheterizations, and post-op open heart recovery is preferred.
- Additional Information: The unit features a variety of advanced equipment including Alaris intravenous pumps, SCD machines, Hill Rom beds, and telemetry monitors. Responsibilities include performing IV insertions, managing chest tubes, and maintaining temporary pacemakers and Foley catheters. Staff must adhere to unit-specific policies and dress code of navy blue scrubs (or black scrub pants with navy blue tops). Floating to other units where competency is demonstrated may be required. The unit fosters a family-like atmosphere and emphasizes excellent patient care and experience.
