Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Float Nurse position is located in Alexandria, Louisiana. This role involves providing specialized nursing care within a mixed cardiac and medical ICU setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a variety of complex patient conditions, including DKA, acute respiratory failure, myocardial infarctions, CABGs, and ventilator care, practicing independently and demonstrating excellent clinical judgment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, days, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred; BLS certification from AHA required; ACLS certification from AHA required; RN License in state of employment or compact; 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred; current ACLS certification required; BLS certification from AHA required; RN License in the state of employment or a compact license
- Preferred Qualifications: None specified
- Float: No floating required
- Additional Information: Must have experience with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, Impellas, Post-operative Cardiovascular surgeries, and CRRT. Every other weekend required; no on-call requirement. Nursing care involves assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for complex patients with increasing psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs. Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring side effects, documenting patient information, and providing patient and caregiver education. New hires must attend a hospital orientation within the first 30 days of employment and complete organizational competency validations.
