Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse Location unspecified. This is a 17-week contract position covering night shifts at a Level III trauma center with a high patient acuity. The role involves managing a diverse patient population, including pediatrics to geriatrics, with responsibilities across multiple zones of a busy emergency department. This opportunity is ideal for experienced ER nurses seeking a dynamic, fast-paced environment with flexibility in scheduling.
Job Details
- Schedule: Nights (7:00 p.m. 7:00 a.m.)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years in a large volume emergency department with high acuity patient care; experience with barcode scanning medication administration, managing medication drips, blood product administration, triage (must pass hospital triage test), setup of chest tubes, arterial lines, assistance with trauma and code cases, splinting, BiPAP/ventilators, and comprehensive understanding of Emergency Severity Index (ESI). Pediatric emergency medicine experience is highly preferred. Experience with Point of Care Labs is a plus.
- Patient Types: Neonate to geriatric, including strokes (administration of TNK), cardiac emergencies, behavioral health, substance use disorders, multi-system trauma, and high acuity pediatric patients.
- Patient Ratios: 1:3 to 1:5 based on acuity; fast track zone with 13 beds in a green zone.
- EMR: Epic (required)
- Floating: No
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend, with possible back-to-back weekends, requiring flexibility

- Hours Per Week: Minimum of 48 hours
- Shift Hours: 12-hour shifts with various start times, including day, mid, and evening shifts.
