Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position located in a critical access hospital setting. This role involves providing care alongside a team of skilled healthcare professionals in a dynamic environment. The ER nurse will perform a variety of procedures including IV starts, Foley catheter placements, and other typical RN responsibilities, utilizing equipment such as EPIC, Philips central monitor/telemetry, and Lifepak 15. The position requires flexibility to float across departments, with a focus on delivering quality patient care during night shifts.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting from 09/08/2026 to 12/08/2026.
  • Required Qualifications: Active compact or South Dakota state license, at least 3 years of experience, current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and the ability to work in ER as charge nurse or capable of floating to multiple units/departments.
  • Critical Access Hospital experience preferred but not required.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Epic experience.
  • Additional Information: The ER RN works alongside another RN to care for patients in med/surg, outpatient, and emergency department units. The unit has 10 patient rooms, with an average of 4 patients daily, and staffing typically includes two RNs with a PCT or LPN as a third team member. The nurse-to-patient ratio averages between 1:2 and 1:3, with a maximum of 1:6. Dress code is navy scrubs. Orientation can be tailored with up to a week of training, including working at least a day and night shift. Flexibility on charge nurse responsibilities is appreciated, with expected capability to function in ER. Floating to other units may be required.
