Job Summary:
Emergency Room Nurse in Marshfield, Wisconsin. This role involves providing acute care in a busy Level 2 Trauma Center with high patient volumes, including both adult and pediatric patients. The nurse will be responsible for managing a variety of emergency situations, performing triage, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver quality patient care on rotating shifts.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts with start times at 05:00, 07:00, 08:00, 09:00, 11:00, 12:00, 15:00, 17:00, or 19:00, averaging at least 36 hours per week. Shifts are scheduled to include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, following an every-other weekend and holiday rotation.
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association, Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association, National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association, and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). The candidate must have at least 2 years of ER experience and be licensed to submit credentials.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric experience, Cerner electronic medical record systems experience, and Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required to assist other units as a patient sitter or helping hands, but this is rare and optional.
  • Additional Information:
    • The department handles approximately 140-180 patients daily with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 in the ER.
    • The unit contains 38 beds and five trauma bays, with both X-ray and computed tomography (CT) within the department.
    • Triage is performed at the front bays and behind the registration desk, with all nurses expected to participate.
    • Security is in-house 24/7 but not stationed inside the ER.
    • The department is equipped with monitored GE monitors, and RNs are responsible for observing patient rhythms.
    • RT (Respiratory Therapy) services are available 24/7 and include ventilators, Cpap, BiPap, and High Flow devices; RNs may troubleshoot RT equipment but should call RT for assistance.
    • Lab draws are performed by RNs, with blood cultures drawn by phlebotomy unless delayed, in which case RNs or techs will assist.
    • Orientation consists of three days, including computer-based training and in-unit preceptorship.
    • No on-call is required; occasional standby may be needed if census is low.
    • Scrubs should be any solid color, clean, and professional attire.
    • Candidate must have worked at the facility previously with an end date at least 6 months prior to submission.
    • Conduct in-person clock-in/out required.
