Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) nurse needed in a high-acuity facility located in Sheboygan, WI. The position involves providing critical care to adult, pediatric, geriatric, and behavioral health patients in a Level IV Trauma Center with an average of 90 to 110 patients per day. The role requires strong ED skills, trauma proficiency, and experience with stroke, trauma, and pediatric care. The shift schedule is nights, from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, for a duration of approximately three months.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Intensive Care (NIC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). Minimum of 2 years of ER experience with strong ED skills, stroke, trauma, splinting, pediatric experience, chest tubes, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and line management expertise. Active license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Wisconsin.
- Preferred Qualifications: ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), de-escalation training such as MOAB or CPI.
- Support on the Unit: ED Techs working in shifts to assist with U/S guided IVs, EKG, transfer paperwork, paging consults, and call lights. 24/7 support staff including charge nurses, triage nurses, phlebotomy, case managers, physical therapists, intake counselors, public safety, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, house supervisors, and surge team.
- Charting System/Equipment: EPIC electronic charting system, Alaris, Pyxis, bedside telemetry monitoring with no tele tech.
- Floating: Rare assistance to other units for hard IV sticks and general support; must be comfortable with unit orientation and trust building.
- Orientation: First day involves system login, online modules, hospital tour, and EPIC training; subsequent days include unit-specific training based on comfort level.
- Scheduling: Every other weekend rotation, with notice two weeks prior. Flexibility to work holidays and up to seven days off with prior approval.
- Other Notes: Scrub color is flexible; parking is free in designated areas. The role is fast-paced with high acuity patient care requirements.
