Job Summary:
Emergency Room Nursing Position in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing skilled emergency nursing care at a Level 1 trauma designated facility. The position requires managing a wide variety of patient conditions, from minor complaints to critically ill cases, including trauma, stroke, and cardiac emergencies. The shift is scheduled for evening hours, with adaptability to department needs.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour evening shifts, starting from 01:00 PM to 01:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license, minimum of 2 years of emergency room nursing experience, certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC or TNS. Candidates must have at least one prior travel assignment. Recent SANE RN experience and experience in teaching hospital environments are preferred.
- Required skills include general nursing proficiency, ability to titrate vasopressor and cardiac drips, and interpret ECG rhythms.
- Department notes: The unit has patient ratios of 1:35 depending on acuity, with specialized trauma care teams. Capable of troubleshooting ventilators and medical equipment; nurses will work alongside respiratory therapists and radiology staff.
- Team Staffing: The shift is staffed with at least three attending physicians, two charge nurses, a house supervisor, ED techs at a ratio of 1:9, and other support staff.
- Floats are occasionally performed to assist other units as needed; however, this is rare and typically not for travelers.
