Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position in a Level 4 trauma center. The role involves providing acute nursing care in a high-volume emergency department with an average daily patient load of 80-110. Candidates will support a fast-paced environment, managing diverse cases such as chest pain, abdominal pain, minor trauma, and respiratory distress, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, mid-level providers, and support staff.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Rotating shift; 12-hour shifts; minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC); at least 2 years of emergency department experience; proper licensure to submit; and minimum of 0 years of experience as specified.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in critical thinking and conscious sedation; familiarity with ED diagnostics and patient management.
- Additional Information:
- Unit operates with a flexible intake model for lower acuity patients, allowing triage responsibilities for qualified travelers.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 in general ED and 1:2 or 1:1 in critical cases.
- The ER is equipped with advanced monitoring systems, including telemonitor capabilities; RNs are trained to read strips.
- Staff includes charge nurses and house supervisors working 24/7; ED techs, paramedics, and RTs support clinical functions.
- On-call shifts are required, with one on-call shift every 28 days.
- Staff are expected to work every other weekend, and some major holidays, with negotiated holiday scheduling.
- Orientation includes hospital training followed by mentored shifts at different ER locations.
