Job Summary:
Emergency Room Nurse in Alexandria, Virginia. This role involves providing high-quality emergency nursing care in a combined adult and pediatric emergency department. The position requires experience in managing diverse patient conditions, including high acuity cases such as STEMI, stroke, and sepsis, as well as pediatric emergencies. The ER does not feature a separate pediatric area, so a nurse must be adept at caring for both adult and pediatric patients within a 24-hour care zone.

Job Details:

  • Location: Alexandria, VA
  • Schedule: Rotating shifts of 12 hours, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Weekend shifts occur every other week, totaling 6 shifts over 6 weeks.
  • Required Qualifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications, 2+ years of ER experience, and relevant education and licensing.
  • Preferred Qualifications: TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification.
  • Additional Information: This role involves working in a mixed adult and pediatric emergency care area with no respiratory therapy services; ventilator management and high-flow oxygen are handled by RNs. Training will be provided. Staff ratios are typically 4:1, with flexibility to 5:1 during peak census. The nurse may be required to float as needed. There are no on-call or holiday shift requirements.
